Roberto Rangel, My Journey: From Soldier to Healing Advocate
I joined the Army in 2006 as a 63L Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic, proud to serve alongside my battle buddies. My life changed during deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, where I sustained injuries that led to chronic pain beginning in 2010. I tried every medical treatment available—acupuncture, chiropractic care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, traction—but my pain was relentless.
By 2017, after my final deployment, I knew I could no longer be the soldier I wanted to be. In November 2021, I was medically retired with a VA rating of 370% for individual issues. It was the lowest point in my life—suicide was on the table, and I felt lost.
That’s when a friend introduced me to Angela Darling, someone I now credit with saving my life. I was helping Angela build her clinic when, Angela introduced me to the Trager® Approach, a therapy that works with the brain and nervous system to bring profound relief. Through her guidance and inspiration, I found not only physical relief but also a renewed sense of purpose.
A Turning Point: The Day I Felt Pain-Free
Angela brought me with her to Seattle for continued education training. During a visit to Canada beforehand, I experienced a severe fibromyalgia flare-up that left me in intense pain. The next day, I met Michael Lear, one of Angela’s Trager® instructors. In just 27 minutes on his table, something extraordinary happened—I fell asleep, even in an unfamiliar environment surrounded by people I didn’t know.
When I woke up, I felt something I hadn’t experienced in 12 years: no pain. Not a single twitch or grunt—just complete relief. I cried, realizing that this incredible feeling needed to be shared with every veteran possible.
Our Clinic: A Place to Heal
We built a clinic designed to be a safe haven for veterans and their families. We are 99% disabled veteran-based and fully credentialed through the VA and community care. Here, you’ll find state-of-the-art therapies, but what truly makes us stand out is our family-focused environment. We encourage you to bring your loved ones—spouses, kids, friends, or coworkers—to share in your healing journey. Our clinic is more than a place for treatment; it’s a community where you can laugh, cry, vent, and heal.
Our Mission Today
Our goal is simple:
To help you feel the best you can with the cards you’ve been dealt. No other clinic in VA or community care is as committed to your well-being as we are. Let us prove it.
Welcome to 10/20 Hero’s Healthcare. This is your safe space. Let’s begin the journey to your best quality of life together.
Angela Darling
Angela Darling brings a profound dedication to the art and science of bodywork. A native of Colorado Springs, she graduated at the top of her class from Clary Sage College and is a certified Trager Practitioner. Driven by an unquenchable curiosity about the human body and mind, Angela delivers thoughtful, individualized care to every client, always addressing the whole person.
Angela’s philosophy emphasizes the deep connection between the body and mind:“Our bodies are a reflection of our thoughts, beliefs, and accumulated experiences, supple sculptures shaped by the well-worn pathways of our neurological connections. Unfortunately, our Western culture often fosters a disconnected relationship with our bodies, inhibiting our ability to function fully with them. This disconnection might manifest as reduced athletic performance or, in extreme cases, complete dissociation from the body. However, good bodywork has the transformative power to rewire our psychology from the bottom up—without even uttering a word.” With her expertise in Trager and her holistic approach, Angela strives to help clients rediscover their connection to their bodies, empowering them to experience physical and emotional well-being on a profound level.

Deep Tissue Therapy
Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic technique focused on targeting the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue to address chronic tension, pain, and muscular imbalances. It uses slower, more deliberate strokes and sustained pressure to release adhesions, improve circulation, and promote relaxation.
• Relieving chronic muscle tension• Reducing pain from conditions like lower back pain, and sciatica.
• Breaking up adhesions and scar tissue
• Improving flexibility and range of motion
• Addressing postural imbalances
• Promoting recovery from injuries or overuse
• Alleviating muscle stiffness and soreness
• Enhancing circulation to support tissue repair
• Managing stress and promoting relaxation
• Supporting recovery from repetitive strain injuries
Deep tissue massage is ideal for individuals with chronic pain, athletes recovering from injuries, or anyone experiencing stiffness and muscle fatigue from repetitive strain or poor posture. While the technique may involve some discomfort, it is tailored to the client’s tolerance and comfort level to ensure effectiveness without undue pain. By focusing on the root causes of tension and discomfort, deep tissue massage provides long-lasting relief and supports overall physical well-being.
PEMF(Pulsed Electromagnetic Frequency
"The PULSE XL PRO is the Ferrari of PEMF" -Mark Twain
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy uses low-frequency electromagnetic waves to stimulate and recharge cells, promoting natural healing processes in the body. It helps reduce inflammation, improve circulation, enhance tissue repair, and alleviate pain. PEMF is non-invasive and can be applied to support recovery from injuries, manage chronic conditions, and improve overall cellular function.
• Stimulates cellular repair and regeneration
• Reduces inflammation
• Improves circulation and oxygenation of tissues
• Alleviates pain and discomfort
• Enhances tissue repair and wound healing
• Supports recovery from injuries and surgeries
• Promotes relaxation and reduces stress
• Improves energy levels and cellular metabolism
• Enhances immune system function
• Helps manage chronic conditions such as arthritis and fibromyalgia
PEMF is FDA approved for:
• Bone Healing: Treatment of non-union fractures (fractures that fail to heal naturally).
• Post-Surgical Recovery: Enhancing recovery and reducing pain after surgeries, such as spinal fusions.
• Pain and Inflammation Management: Relief of pain and inflammation related to musculoskeletal conditions.
• Depression Treatment: Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), a form of PEMF, is approved for treatment-resistant depression.
• Treatment of Chronic Pain: Approved for use in managing chronic pain conditions.
• Wound Healing: Stimulation of tissue repair and healing for certain wounds.
How often should you use PEMF?
The frequency of PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) therapy sessions depends on the individual’s specific needs, conditions, and goals. Here are some general guidelines for optimal use:
1. Acute Conditions (e.g., Injury, Pain Flare-Up):
• Frequency: Daily or multiple times per day.
• Duration: Sessions lasting 15–30 minutes per targeted area.
• Goal: To accelerate healing, reduce inflammation, and manage acute pain.
2. Chronic Conditions (e.g., Arthritis, Fibromyalgia):
• Frequency: 3–5 times per week for the first few weeks, then adjust based on progress.
• Duration: Sessions of 20–40 minutes, depending on the device and condition.
• Goal: To manage symptoms, improve mobility, and reduce chronic inflammation.
3. General Wellness and Maintenance:
• Frequency: 2–3 times per week.
• Duration: Sessions lasting 10–20 minutes.
• Goal: To support cellular health, improve circulation, and maintain overall energy levels.
4. Post-Surgical Recovery:
• Frequency: Daily or as recommended by a healthcare provider.
• Duration: 20–30 minutes per session.
• Goal: To reduce swelling, promote tissue repair, and alleviate post-surgical pain.
Consistent and regular use of PEMF therapy is key to achieving the best results, but it’s important to listen to your body and adjust the frequency as needed.
For a dysregulated or unsettled nervous system, intensity, urgency and pressure will not lead to progress and integration. If you want consistent progress, less intensity, less catharsis, and less "big" release. Yes, the progress is small or very small, but there's steady progress.
This is safety.
Electro-cupping
Cupping combined with TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation), also known as electro-cupping, leverages the principles of both cupping therapy and electrical stimulation to create a powerful therapeutic effect. Here’s how it works:
How Cupping Works:
• Negative Pressure: Cupping creates suction on the skin, lifting the underlying tissue and increasing blood flow to the targeted area. This enhanced circulation promotes healing, reduces inflammation, and relieves muscle tension.
• Fascial Decompression: The suction helps release tight connective tissues (fascia), allowing for greater mobility and reducing discomfort.
• Trigger Point Relief: Cupping can be strategically placed to target areas of chronic tension or trigger points, helping to release them more effectively.
On a neurobiological level, authenticity helps others feel safe because their brains don’t waste energy trying to “figure you out.” That’s why at 10/20 Hero’s Healthcare, we keep it real with a relaxed, no-BS culture—complete with dark humor, a bit of profanity, and just the right amount of sarcastic banter, reflective of the camaraderie we felt in service.
How TENS Works:
• Electrical Stimulation: TENS delivers small electrical impulses through electrodes to stimulate nerves and muscles. This stimulation can block pain signals to the brain (via the gate control theory of pain) and promote the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers.
• Muscle Engagement: The electrical impulses cause muscles to contract and relax rhythmically, improving blood flow and reducing tension.
How Electro-Cupping Combines These Therapies:
• Amplified Muscle Activation: The TENS impulses stimulate the muscles under the cups, encouraging them to fire repeatedly. This artificial activation helps break up adhesions, release tension, and improve neuromuscular signaling.
• Continued Relaxation Post-Treatment: Once the stimulation ends, the brain continues to send relaxation signals to the treated area, resulting in a prolonged reduction of muscle tension.
• Enhanced Circulation and Healing: The combined effect of suction from the cups and the stimulation of nerves and muscles by TENS increases circulation more effectively than either therapy alone. This enhanced blood flow delivers oxygen and nutrients to the tissue while flushing out waste products.
Potential Benefits:
1. Pain Relief: Targets chronic pain conditions like back pain, neck pain, or tension headaches.
2. Muscle Recovery: Helps with soreness and tightness after physical activity or injuries.
3. Nerve Function: Encourages better communication between muscles and the nervous system.
4. Decreased Inflammation: Promotes localized blood flow and lymphatic drainage, reducing swelling.
5. Improved Mobility: Releases fascial restrictions and muscle adhesions, restoring a better range of motion.
6. Scar Tissue Mobilization: Breaks up scar tissue, and allows the fibers to align and sliding surfaces of the tissues to move freely.
Electro-cupping can be tailored to individual needs by adjusting the suction pressure and electrical intensity, making it a versatile tool for addressing various conditions and enhancing overall recovery and relaxation.
